The National FFA Organization was founded in 1928.  The FFA's 540,379 national members and 7,489 chapters represent all 50 states as well as Puerto Rico and he Virgin Islands.

    • Alabama was the 36th state to be chartered.
    • Smiths Station High School received its FFA charter in January, 1934.

FFA's local, state, and national programs and activities help members develop public speaking skills, conduct and participate in meetings, manage financial matters, strengthen problem-solving abilities and assume civic responsibilities.  Competitive events and award programs recognize students' achievements, encourage them to excel beyond the classroom, and develop career skills.
